The UWMC Cardiovascular Advanced Practice (CV APP) Fellowship prepares postgraduate APPs (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) to utilize evidenced-based practice and develop specialized skills to care for chronic and acutely ill patients across the continuum of cardiovascular specialty and subspecialty areas. The UWMC CV APP Fellowship is an intense, highly structured, comprehensive program through which newly licensed APPs will acquire in-depth cardiovascular knowledge, advanced skills, and mentorship to deliver safe, quality care that meets standards of practice at a quaternary medical center. The Fellowship is designed for self-motivated, eager, skilled and knowledgeable newly licensed graduates who excelled in their APP training and now wish to build upon those skills in a high acuity medical center. The residency takes place at Lutheran General Hospital and is directed by Dr. Matthew Jimenez and Dr. Patrick Knott. Touro University-Manhattan Physician Assistant Program

The mission of the Touro College Physician Assistant Programs is to educate capable students to meet the challenges of providing health care services under the supervision of a licensed physician. The programs also strive to excel in the education and training of physician assistants who will serve the health care needs of the community with competence, compassion, and dedication. The program curriculum is designed to educate its graduates to function as traditionally-trained primary care providers who are able to provide care to patients in any number of specialties in hospital-based and private office settings, and to prepare graduates with the requisite medical knowledge to pass the national certifying examination. The curriculum is also formulated to sensitize the student to diverse patient populations and the impact of socioeconomic factors on health care and its availability. The Manhattan Campus PA Program offers non-traditional scheduling of classes. This has enabled the program to broaden access to PA education to persons who prefer a non-traditional schedule format because of family commitments or the need to work part-time to finance their education.

The Physician Assistant Program at Wake Forest School of Medicine is a graduate level program that awards a Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree after 24 months of study. The Wake Forest PA Program is approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) for 64 students at our Winston-Salem campus and up to 32 students at our new expanded campus at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Accreditation for the Boone cohort was granted in September 2013, and the first students will enroll in June 2014. The Boone campus has also been approved by SACSCOC.
