The Orthopaedic Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship Program (OSPAF) is committed to providing superior postgraduate didactic and clinical training to Physician Assistants who desire specialized careers in orthopaedic surgery. This signature program provides an intense and holistic blend of learning opportunities that ensure the success of the participants as orthopaedic surgical assistants and as providers of orthopaedic care in a clinical setting. Carolinas Healthcare System Center Charlotte, NC 12 months 28 Students Post-Graduate Acute Care Fellowship Program The post-graduate acute care fellowship program allows both NPs and PAs to develop the knowledge base to perform procedures and life-saving interventions in various high acuity patient populations and situations. University of Missouri Emergency Medicine PA Residency Columbia, MO 13 months 2 Students per Fall and Spring Class University of Missouri Health Care, Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and the University of Missouri School of Medicine are offering an intense and rewarding post-graduate fellowship for Physician Assistants in Emergency Medicine. Program director and clinical coordinator: Rebekah Hudson ([email protected]) MU Health Care boasts over 400 hospital beds in central Missouri with an expanding Emergency Department with over 52 beds. It serves as central Missouri’s only Level l trauma center and as a tertiary referral center for much of mid-Missouri. As part of an academic medical center, MU Health Care is host to many physician fellowships, fellowship programs, and other physician assistant fellowships. This program highlights rotations in Emergency Medicine at our level 1 trauma center and rural-based Emergency Department, ICU, medical wards, boot camp, SIM labs, and hands-on experience in procedural labs and in clinical practice under physician assistant and physician supervision. Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY 14.5 months 5 Students Postgraduate Residency for Physician Assistants in Surgery Montefiore’s Physician Assistant residency is the oldest postgraduate residency program in the country. In 1971, just six years after the Physician Assistant profession was founded, Montefiore became the first hospital to include PA’s as house officers on inpatient surgical services. Those PA’s quickly became an integral part of the surgical team at Montefiore and their clinical experience was formalized into a 12 month residency in general surgery and surgical specialties. In 1978, a pre-internship didactic phase was added in order to provide a firm scientific foundation for the clinical phase of the program. The current residency is still structured in this way, that is, with a classroom based educational program followed by clinical rotations. Our program attracts both new graduates wanting a broad and intense experience in acute care patient management, as well as PA’s in practice who desire to redirect their careers or to acquire new specialty skills. Mercer-Piedmont Heart Atlanta, GA 12 months 2 students About the Program The Mercer-Piedmont Heart Physician Assistant Post-Graduate Residency in Advanced Cardiology is a collaborative effort between the Mercer University Physician Assistant Program and Piedmont Heart. Residents will participate in the admission and consultation of cardiac patients to the intensive care units. Responsibilities will include rounding on nights, weekdays, and weekends. Residents will rotate through cardiac subspecialties including, but not limited to, general and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgery. The residents will acquire skills necessary to contribute to the management of advanced cardiac disease pathophysiologies, such as cardiogenic shock, advanced coronary disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease.
