The US Army/ Air Force-Baylor Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (EMPA) Residency Must be Active Duty Army or Air Force, with a minimum of 4 years (Army) or 2 years (Air Force) active commissioned service as a Physician Assistant. JBSA Fort Sam Houston, TX 18 months EMPA US ARMY/AIR FORCE BAYLOR DSC Overview The US Army/ Air Force-Baylor Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (EMPA) Residency is an 18 month program that incorporates a variety of clinical rotations, formal didactic instruction, and research. The residency prepares the EMPA to evaluate, diagnose, and stabilize those conditions which pose an immediate threat to life and limb. The US Army/ Air Force EMPA Residency is unique in that it exists within an established Emergency Medicine Residency (San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium/SAUSHEC) which enhances educational and research opportunities. The UWMC Cardiovascular Advanced Practice (CV APP) Fellowship prepares postgraduate APPs (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) to utilize evidenced-based practice and develop specialized skills to care for chronic and acutely ill patients across the continuum of cardiovascular specialty and subspecialty areas. The UWMC CV APP Fellowship is an intense, highly structured, comprehensive program through which newly licensed APPs will acquire in-depth cardiovascular knowledge, advanced skills, and mentorship to deliver safe, quality care that meets standards of practice at a quaternary medical center. The Fellowship is designed for self-motivated, eager, skilled and knowledgeable newly licensed graduates who excelled in their APP training and now wish to build upon those skills in a high acuity medical center. We are very proud to be part of the growing interest in Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) Residency Programs in the country and would like to share with you some of our program’s distinguished attributes. Our vibrant urban setting, affords us the opportunity to care for a diverse and challenging patient population presenting with various medical needs. Because Einstein houses a Level I Trauma Center, our residents frequently treat trauma patients with multiple and severe injuries while working closely with other disciplines including surgery and orthopedics.
