University of St. Francis Physician Assistant Program

The Physician Assistant program at USF’s Albuquerque Campus is a full-time, 27-month program. The program consists of 15 months of didactic classroom basic medical sciences, behavioral and social sciences, clinical preparatory sciences and professional practice issues. This is followed by 12 continuous months of supervised clinical learning experiences. Students must complete the entire 27-month program at the University of St. Francis. Upon successful completion of the entire program of study, the student will be awarded a Master of Science degree.

Mercer-Piedmont Heart Atlanta, GA 12 months 2 students About the Program The Mercer-Piedmont Heart Physician Assistant Post-Graduate Residency in Advanced Cardiology is a collaborative effort between the Mercer University Physician Assistant Program and Piedmont Heart. Residents will participate in the admission and consultation of cardiac patients to the intensive care units. Responsibilities will include rounding on nights, weekdays, and weekends. Residents will rotate through cardiac subspecialties including, but not limited to, general and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgery. The residents will acquire skills necessary to contribute to the management of advanced cardiac disease pathophysiologies, such as cardiogenic shock, advanced coronary disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease. Additionally, residents will work with experts in advanced imaging techniques such as echocardiography, and cardiac MR/CT. Brown Alpert Medical School Providence, RI 12 months Emergency Medicine Physician Extender Development Program Emergency Medicine Physician Extender Development Program, or EMPED, is a 12-month post graduate training program involving University Emergency Medicine Foundation (UEMF) faculty and senior physician extenders to support a comprehensive emergency medicine training program. The program utilizes three hospitals as sites for orientation, training, and clinical rotations for newly graduated or non-emergency medicine trained physician extenders. All three sites are affiliated with Alpert Medical School and Lifespan, and are teaching facilities. Fiona Craft, NP is the EMPED program coordinator. Diana Afonso, PA-C and Cailyne Ghazarian, PA-C are the program lead educators. Dr. James Monti is the Advanced Practice Provider Medical Director.
