University of New Mexico School of Medicine Albuquerque, NM 18 months 2 Students Physician Assistant Residency in Emergency Medicine The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency is an 18-month program that strives to equip physician assistants with the clinical experiences and didactic teaching that will enable them to practice high-quality, evidence based emergency medicine. Our graduates will have comfort and competence in the care of critically ill patients, the broad scope of emergent presentations, and the skills necessary to be leaders in their profession. We strive to recruit PA’s who are advocates for their patients, tireless learners, and enthusiastic about working in a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. We admit two residents per year for the program to begin in late June. Applications open October 1st, 2016 and close February 1st, 2017. Interviews will take place in early February or early March. Texas Children’s Hospital Pediatric Surgery Houston, TX 12 months 6 Students Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship Providing advanced pediatric surgical training to physician assistants The Pediatric Surgery Fellowship for Physician Assistants is the first of its kind in the country to offer a 12-month didactic and clinical pediatric training program to physician assistants. Our fellowship ensures a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties, and to become a leader in all areas of pediatric surgery. Surgical subspecialties include: congenital heart surgery, general pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, trauma, urology, and an innovative new addition, surgical hospitalist. The one-year program includes 10 months of clinical pediatric surgical subspecialty experience and one month of basic laboratory research.
