Carolinas Healthcare System Charlotte, NC 12 months 28 per cohort, variable Center for Advanced Practice Fellowship The Advanced Clinical Practitioner fellowship at Carolinas HealthCare System provides exposure to an array of complex disease processes and patient populations in acute, primary and urgent care settings. With a focus on developed competence and confidence, this transition-to-practice program prepares the advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) to deliver superior patient care while in a protected learning environment. The one year, post-graduate fellowship programs are appropriate for new nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistant (PA) graduates, as well as advanced clinical practitioners wishing to change disciplines or career paths. Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY 14.5 months 5 Students Postgraduate Residency for Physician Assistants in Surgery Montefiore’s Physician Assistant residency is the oldest postgraduate residency program in the country. In 1971, just six years after the Physician Assistant profession was founded, Montefiore became the first hospital to include PA’s as house officers on inpatient surgical services. Those PA’s quickly became an integral part of the surgical team at Montefiore and their clinical experience was formalized into a 12 month residency in general surgery and surgical specialties. In 1978, a pre-internship didactic phase was added in order to provide a firm scientific foundation for the clinical phase of the program. The current residency is still structured in this way, that is, with a classroom based educational program followed by clinical rotations. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is centrally located in Colton, CA and is within an hours drive to both mountains and coastline. ARMC’s Emergency Department is the second busiest in California with an annual volume of 110,000. As a large volume emergency department, our AOA-approved Emergency Medicine residency provides vigorous and broad training where residents become proficient at EM procedures and manage multiple critical patients simultaneously. My goal as Program Director is to train extremely qualified and well-rounded emergency physicians, all of whom I would have treat my own family without reservation.
